Part of the increased expense of purchasing new is said warranty. While the rev hang is primarily in place for emissions constraints, subaru cleverly implemented a system to counter act it entirely granted you figured out how to do it Personally i solved this issue to a certain extent by modifying the drive by wire tables. Back when i had a 2011 subaru impreza, the rev hang was horrific It took me 2 months to learn to shift smoothly, especially 1st to 2nd Eventually you get used to it and you figure out the sweet spot of. Tons of rev hang, rpms take forever to come down making it nearly impossible to shift smooth, quickly or efficiently without using too much clutch.
